The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season came to an abrupt and historic conclusion on Sunday as persistent rain, heavy moisture, and an unsafe racing surface forced NHRA officials to cancel the In N Out Burger NHRA Finals at In N Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.

Despite the NHRA Safety Safari making extensive attempts throughout the weekend to dry and prepare the track, surface conditions never reached a level considered safe for 330 miles per hour nitro racing. After close consultation with safety personnel, the decision was made to officially shut down the event.
With the cancellation, all remaining world championships were determined by the current points standings, making this one of the rare instances in NHRA history where the final race could not be contested.
Tasca Racing Responds to a Historic End to the Season
For Bob Tasca III and his Ford Racing nitro Mustang Dark Horse Funny Car team, the news was disappointing but understandable given the conditions and the performance demands of nitro Funny Cars.
The team arrived in Pomona with confidence and momentum, prepared to close out the season with a strong showing. Instead, the competition weekend turned into a safety-first situation that left no room for risk.
Bob Tasca III Shares His Perspective
Bob Tasca III shared his thoughts following the announcement.
“Tough way to end the season, however, when you drive the most violent cars on the planet, you need a safe racetrack to do it on. NHRA had a tough decision to make, but I fully support their decision. The off-season will be short, and to all the Pomona fans we will be back!”
Looking Ahead to 2026
While the abrupt end was not how the team hoped to wrap up 2025, Tasca Racing immediately shifts focus to the upcoming season. The Ford Racing nitro Mustang Dark Horse funny car program continues preparation for an aggressive and data-driven 2026 campaign.
The organization extends gratitude to NHRA officials, the Safety Safari team, Tasca Racing partners, and fans who supported the team through a challenging and unprecedented weekend.
